    Viral Hepatitis

    General Introduction

    Viral hepatitis is caused by hepatitis viruses, can be divided into about three types : Type A, Type B and Non-A Non-B hepatitis. People are susceptible to the disease. Clinically, the major symptoms are poor appetite, hepatalgia and fatigue. Fever and jaundice may occur. Liver functions test shows various degrees of hepatic damage, In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this disease belongs to the categories of “ huang dan “ ( jaundice ), “ gan yu “ ( atagnation of liver ), “ xie tong “ ( hypochondriac pain ) and “ zheng Ji “ ( mass in the abdomen ).

    This disease will Eyes is yellow , Urine is yellow , Face, palm and skin is also yellow ( Bright or greyish dark yellow ). as the main points of diagnosis and also by Laboratory examination.

    DIFFERENTIATION AND TREATMENT OF COMMON SYNDROMES

    The Main Syndromes are divided into two types:

    1. Yang jaundice (Acute Icterohepatitis or symptoms as follows):
      Bright yellow coloration of the skin and sclera, fever, thirst, feeling as fullness and distension in the epigastrium, anorexia, fatigue, hypochondriac distension and pain, restlessness, nausea, scanty dark urine ( or deep yellow urine ), dry stools ( or stiff hard stools or stools in 2—3 days or more ), red tongue with yellow and greasy fur, taut and rapid pulse.
    2. Yin Jaundice ( Chronic Icterohepatitis or symptoms as follows):
      Main Symptoms and Sign : Greyish Dark yellow coloration of the skin and sclera just like smoky colour, poor appetite, feeling of distension in the abdomen, loose stools or in water shape, general debility, tastelessness in the mouth, whitish thick and greasy fur of the tongue, deep thready and weak pulse.

    Therapeutic Principle

    1. Yang jaundice (Acute Icterohepatitis):
      Removing pathogenic heat and dampness, promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, softening hard masses to remove obstruction in liver-channel, lower down SGPT/ALT and SGOT/AST.
    2. Yin Jaundice (Chronic Icterohepatitis):
      Activating the function of the spleen, inducing diuresis and warming Yang, promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, softening hard masses to remove obstruction in liver-channel, lower down SGPT/ALT and SGOT/AST.

    1. Yang jaundice (Acute Icterohepatitis):
      Moutan peony bark, Capejasmine fruit, Bupleurum root, Oriental wormwood, Rhubarb, Oriental water plantain rhizome, Umbellate pore-fungus, Pleione tuber, Peach kernel, safflower, Spready hedyotis herb, Stringy stonecrop herb. Oyster shell, Rehmannia root, Schisandra fruit and etc.
    2. Yin Jaundice (Chronic Icterohepatitis):
      Moutan peony bark, Bupleurum root, Oriental wormwood, Prepared aconite root, Dried ginger, Oriental water plantain rhizome, Umbellate pore-fungus, Pleione tuber, Peach kernel, safflower, Spready hedyotis herb, Stringy stonecrop herb. Oyster shell, Rehmannia root, Schisandra fruit and etc.
